Kenya as a safari destination

Kenya is a country with endless possibilities for the active traveler as it offers countless opportunities for discovery and adventure. A Kenya safari does not necessarily mean exploring the nature from an open side’s safari vehicle, there are other options available. Here are some of the things a true seeker of the adrenaline rush can do in Kenya. It is a true adventurer’s paradise!

Extreme Water Sports Safari - the Kenyan coast and it’s beaches are ideal for exploring by boat and the inland freshwater lakes, situated in the Rift Valley offer great opportunities for water skiing, windsurfing and boating.

White Water Rafting Safari- it is considered one of the greatest adventure safari in Kenya. Kayaking and rafting are relatively new sports in the country, but the possibilities are countless, since the river systems are not only extensive, but also spectacular.

Fishing - The gorgeous lakes and rivers of Kenya are not only rich in birds, but they also provide plenty of opportunities for world-class fishing: from Nile Perch to Trout. Big Game Fishing in the Indian Ocean waters is also very popular, Kenya is considered one of the best places on Earth for this kind of fishing and is also Eco friendly.

Camel Safari - If one wants to explore Kenya in a more unusual way a Camel Safari can provide that. The open side safari vehicle is the traditional way to go, but being on a camel’s back is certainly closer to nature and gives the tourist an opportunity to travel like the nomadic tribes. Large herds of single humped camels live in North Kenya and are a traditional way to cross the arid plain lands and deserts through spectacular deep valleys and dry riverbeds.

Horse Back Safari -whether it is a masai mara lodge safari , Since Kenya is a very active horse riding community it provides an excellent opportunity to explore the area up close and personal. We too will use the rocks starting with a refreshing lunch and short rest in our classic roomy safari tents. After lunch they head out on a short walk looking for game and getting a feel for the country. As the sun begins to set you will find ourselves at the crest of Nayusere and there a blanket with drinks and biting. As we enjoy our sundowners we will continue to spot game from our vantage and watch as the baboons come back to roost on the face of the rock. A short descent will find us back in camp for a delicious hardy dinner. Masai mara budget safaris

Day two would be heading out early after breakfast so to see as much game as possible on our walk north towards Camp. Along our walk we will walk across large plains as well as mixed bush. Herds of Zebra, Oryx and Grant’s gazelle predominate on the large plains with smaller numbers of Jackson’s Hartebeest and Thompson’s Gazelle. In the mixed bush we find Dikdik, Gerenuk, Impala and Lesser Kudu if we are lucky enough to see them. We will be at a camp around lunch time. After lunch we will, resting, and later another walk in the evening to a pretty spot for sundowners. Masai mara wildebeest migration

The third day is a busy day heading down toward the Ewaso Nyiro River, which runs along the eastern edge of the Laikipia Plateau and then turns eastward toward Samburu National Reserve. Kenya beach holidays

World Environment Day promote Tree planting Campaign in Rwanda.

Trees are essential to life as we know it that they are the ground troops on an environmental frontline. uganda safari Our existing forest and the trees we plant work in tandem to make a better world. It was due to there importance that the National Environment Campaign is focusing on tree planting this year, under the theme Plant a Tree Conserve Biodiversity. The theme was officially launched so that it can create a positive impact world wide. Besides, a number of tree planting campaigns have been launched all over the world. For example, Red Cross Uganda launched a tree planting campaign in May 2010, Fina Bank in Rwanda which vowed to plant over 1500 bamboo trees in Nyabugogo wetland, Nyarugenge district. Speaking was the bank’s Executive Director and Business Banking, Kenneth Agaba. "We had requested Kigali City to give us an area where we can plant these trees and they allocated us to Nyabugogo wetland which is being encroached on by the population” Rwanda Environment management Authority (REMA) had written to all businesses around the area, masai mara safari package most of them garages, to vacate the wetland. Besides, during a monthly communal work, Umuganda last Saturday, employees of the bank cleared the area where the trees will be planted. However, as Rwanda hosts this year’s global World Environment Day, a better environment and a lasting legacy for future generations in Rwanda was launched by Oxfam international agency. The campaign will ask Rwandans to mark their birthdays by planting a tree, and show their support for the global movement to help tackle climate change.kenya safari packages "Birthdays signify birth, growth and life. If each Rwandan on their birthday plants just one tree we can help Rwanda set an environmental example to the rest of the world. Don’t just blow candles, grow trees," said Alice Anukur, Country Director of Oxfam GB. Climate change and poverty are intrinsically linked. Climate change is caused mainly by the actions of the rich industrial nations, but the impacts are felt most by poor communities in countries like Rwanda. In addition, planting a tree, Rwandans can make a small contribution to improving our environment, and send a clear message to the world’s politicians that we care about our environment and want them to act. Through this campaign Rwandans will also promote environmental sustainability in other ways, such as avoiding wastage of water, energy and food. With hope this campaign will take Rwanda as a country on to the next step and help achieve Vision 2020. Thus, the trees Campaign’s phenomenal success is a result of the participation of people of all walks of life and from every corner of the planet. National Environment Management Authority will next month recruit 600 armed police personnel to strengthen the implementation of environmental protection laws, policies and regulations. gorilla safaris uganda The Environmental Protection Force will arrest those involved in land degradation, water and air pollution and ensure that arrested victims are prosecuted in time. “Apart from arrests, the force will follow up and ensure that victims are prosecuted early,” NEMA Executive Director, Dr Henry Aryamanya-Mugisha said in an interview on Saturday during celebrations to mark World Environment Day in Kanungu District. This year’s theme was “Biodiversity for National Prosperity: Conserve it”. Distribution mechanism Out of the 600 police personnel, 450 will be in NEMA regulated areas whereas 150 will be dispatched to National Forestry Authority. The force will work closely with Uganda Police in the acquisition of arms. “When you look at the icebergs at Mount Ruwenzori, it is melting very fast, fish is being destroyed in Lake Victoria because of pollution and there’s need for protection,” Dr Arymanya said, adding that the costs of treating drinking water by National Water and Sewerage Corporation has risen recently due to encroachment on wetlands accompanied with excessive pollution. houses for sale in kenya The State Minister for Environment, Ms Jessica Eriyo, said the loss of biodiversity in the country is costing the economy $240 million annually. “Global annual losses as a result of deforestation alone is estimated at $2 trillion while invasive species is estimated to cost global economy $1.4 trillion annually and this is all tax payers money,” Ms Eriyo said. She called upon industry owners to install effluent treatment facilities to minimise pollution of aquatic ecosystems. “The future generation and national development programmes needs biodiversity just like we need today,” she said. “Polluting the aquatic ecosystem not only kills aquatic biodiversity, but has a direct impact on the livelihood of the fishing communities, the fish industries and foreign exchange earned from fish exports.” She also encouraged communities to plant more trees to avoid further cases of landslides. World Environment Day is celebrated gorilla tours on June 5 every year and has been celebrated since 1972. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly to commemorate the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. It is on the same day, that the General Assembly created the United Nations Environment Programme, which is now the United Nations’ principal agency for environmental action focusing on acid rain, oceans, water, ‘green cities’, desertification and climate.gorilla treks uganda
